Wallops Wood
Wallops Wood

Winchester welcomes a variety of groups and coach trips throughout the year – from school visits and scouting groups to history societies and flower arranging enthusiasts. Many businesses and corporate companies also choose to host their meeting, conference or away day in Winchester. And of course, where better to get married than the romantic city of Winchester?

We’ve made it easy for groups to find accommodation, places to eat and things to do – just click on the links below to start planning your group’s trip. Many of our attractions also have a group visits coordinator.

You can also search for group friendly accommodation, things to do and places to eat by selecting the ‘Group friendly’ filter on all our search pages.

Within the district you’ll find our heritage city of Winchester which is just a stone’s throw from beautiful English countryside with its rolling hills, chalk download and forests. Dotted around the district you’ll also find our historic market towns –

  • The Georgian town of Alresford which is famous for its watercress
  • Wickham surrounded by Meon valley countryside
  • And the medieval market town of Bishop’s Waltham
  • We also have a more modern outlet shopping village at Whiteley.

Winchester is just an hour from London by train and very close to the South coast. The city is also one of the gateways to the South Downs National Park.

Coach parking is available off Worthy Lane for just £7 for the whole day, and there are other suitable drop-off points around the city including King Alfred’s Statue on the Broadway – just opposite the Visitor Information Centre. If you’ve had a long journey and need a comfort break there are public toilets in Abbey Gardens next to the Guildhall.

Why not stop off in a close-by cafe for a cuppa?

Winchester Park & Ride offers parking and access into the city for just £3 a day for the entire car, up to seven people.

Winchester’s tourism team has extensive knowledge of the local area and will be happy to provide personalised support and advice on all aspects of your group visit, including:

  • providing suggested itineraries according to your group’s area of interest
  • advising on group-friendly accommodation and eateries
  • organising familiarisation visits
